The premise of this project is to construct a small, off the grid residence in Cherry Beach, Toronto. With wood being the main material of construction, this house was designed to retain privacy, while still having large windows. The living area is a floor up, allowing for the area beneath the house to be used as out-door storage for water storage and appliances, while being protected by non-permeable fences to further enforce its privacy. The living area features a kitchen, retractable table, bed, closet, washroom, and fireplace to help heat the residence during the winter. The roof has a series of solar panels, as well as a solar water-heating system, both positioned at an optimal angle for maximum solar efficiency. The roof furthermore features a skylight to create efficient air flow, as well as provide more natural light.
This project was completed exclusively through traditional means.
